MIDI Setup - ReaperUpdated 3 months ago

With some configuration, you can use your MIDI controller to change parameters in ToneHub or AmpHub while working in Reaper.

First, make sure that your MIDI device is connected to your system and recognized by Reaper. If not configured, go to "Preferences > MIDI Devices" and find your devices Inputs/Outputs.

Double click on your device in "MIDI Inputs" and check "Enable input from this device" and "Enable input for control messages".

Then, double click on your device in "MIDI Outputs" and check "Enable output to this device".

Track Setup

Add two new tracks. On the first track, insert the VST2 version of your plugin. Then, make the second track a sub-track by dragging it onto the first track or by clicking the folder icon in the bottom left corner of the first track. On the 2nd track, set your input to your MIDI device (you can set to all channels or a specific channel if need be.

Enable monitoring on both tracks. This will allow MIDI messages to be sent to the plugin.

Using MIDI

With everything routed, you can now use the MIDI learn commands as in standalone mode. Simply right click on a parameter you wish to learn, and send a corresponding MIDI CC or PC message.

Once learned, the parameter in the plugin should respond to the assigned MIDI messages. You can edit your mappings in the MIDI Menu.
